Description
CES English Centre - an opportunity to learn a language with native speakers, live with real Scots and travel a lot. Edinburgh is a medieval city with a huge university, pointed churches and cathedrals. It holds the title of capital of the Scottish kingdom. The centre is occupied by James Gillespie's High School just south of Edinburgh Castle. There is a large park nearby with views of the majestic city. The best cafes and sandwich shops in town are within a 5-minute walk away.
The school has classrooms, playgrounds, outdoor and indoor dining areas. After the lessons kids go for walks around Edinburgh or participate in creative activities. The programme includes a history show in Edinburgh Dungeon and a visit to the extinct volcano of Arthur's Throne. Pupils have an interactive science museum and a weekend in Glasgow. Evenings are spent in discos, national dances and time with a Scottish family. This helps you to understand and become a part of the country's traditions and feel at home.
Children stay with host families. They live an average of 30-40 minutes away by train. There are no more than 4 students in one host family. The rooms are for two children. Breakfast and dinner are served by the family and lunch is prepared at school.

My girls lived like in a 5-star hotel
Off-season English School
CES Edinburgh — language school in the UK54 Manor Place, Edinburgh, UK
We're back. Everything is great, the kids are squealing with delight, parents are spreading their gratitude for a perfectly organized trip. My humble comments, remarks, wishes. In a bit of a rush.
The teacher was Italian, but enthusiastic and the kids really liked her. We were well received. Of course, you have to go to such schools for a long time.
2. One more nuance. At the end of the course we expected a commentary on each student in addition to the certificate, and they focused on the characteristics of the course itself. At Emerald, the instructor personally wrote about each one. It's important to the kids. They don't care what the teacher emphasized: grammar, vocabulary, etc. They want to hear about themselves.
3. I know that we have a closed group. But, again, at Emerald, students over 16 and with a decent level were put in open groups. I am not complaining, I am just stating my thoughts.
4. Placement with host families: 50/50. I had the worst. Disgusting food, miserable fast food, the kitchen was locked after 10 pm. I asked for a nightcap, they brought it to my room, and the rest of the hosts were screwed. I ate there a couple of times, but I had dinner in a nearby pub, I have a relationship with my family, I love pubs, so it didn't bother me. That's why I asked you to cancel my bad review. But the school places in this family without knowing the nationality. In addition to me in the house was another 2 Russians, so it is difficult to call it a full immersion in the language.Children can not settle in this family. The mistress works at home, breakfast at 7.00, then bring small children to her to babysit, cramped, bustling, kolkhoz. My girls lived like in a 5-star hotel. I was at their place, everything was great. I told the school about the families. My boys made a mess, the key was taken away from them and they had to hang out in the city until 8 p.m. But I told them that it was their own fault and that I wouldn't deal with it. I and the girls were placed next to each other, the guys on the side a little, but it's normal. Advise them to put groups in families where dinner is at the same time. We have dinner at 6 pm and the boys have dinner at 8 pm. It's not convenient. Also, the school should specify family services. For example, kids shouldn't have to ask for lunch if they're supposed to.Many are just embarrassed. And, as far as I'm concerned, families should be oriented to communicating with children, we ride for conversation, not silence. My hostess directly forced her Japanese guest to talk.
In the end, choose from my comments what the school should pay attention to. All in all it is very good. Edinburgh is beautiful, everything is in bloom, we went to the Highlands and took a boat trip on Loch Ness Lake, Edinburgh Castle, Britannia and went up to Calton Hill in the evening. And visited the Camera Obscura. I stayed there longer than the kids!
On the way back, dumped stuff at Paddington Hotel, snuck into the center and up the Shard, then onto the Express and into Heathrow. A word of advice if you're not already in the know. There are many points in the capitals where you can leave your luggage for 6 pounds/euro. The website is stasher, citystasher. Convenient and 2 times cheaper.
There'll be two or three small groups next year. I will help them. The itinerary will be discussed. But my personal group will go to Emerald. But about the school in England we will think. We're used to nice families in Margate, and we're spoiled by the family atmosphere.
I think that's it.
Thank you for your work.
FAQ
How can I book a trip?
1. Select a program.
2. Select the dates and group size. We recommend booking conservatively: it's not usually difficult to expand a booking but if you narrow it, then each student will have an increase in the price of the trip.
- The minimum group size is 5 children
- The group leader travels for free
- The larger the group, the cheaper everyone's trip
3. Check that you have marked the transfer, visa, insurance.
4. Select at once additional excursions that you would like to visit for the whole group.
5. Write to us in Whatsapp
What happens after pressing the button "Book a trip"?

Recommended: Make a reservation for the whole group as early as possible (lowest price 8 months before the departure) and have the first student prepay 20% within 2 weeks. Then the price in the currency of the country of study will be fixed for the entire group, regardless of when they join your group.

Yes. It is included.
